On the evening of Sunday, November 24, 2019 Mary “Petie” Katherine Gaskins passed away peacefully of natural causes at Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City, MT at the age of 83. She was comforted by her daughter Karen, and good friend Tana Patten.
Petie was born April 8, 1936 in Clarksburg, West Virginia, Harrison County.  She was the first child of Norval and Katherine Tutwiler.  Petie graduated from Washington-Irving High School in Clarksburg, 1954.  Petie married Pvt. Edward A. Gaskins (Army) September 3, 1955.  Their journey began and she was the best wife who followed him through the Army and College.  In July 1961, Petie’s daughter, Karen was born.
Petie’s life took her many places.  Her Husband Edward’s jobs transferred them all over West Virginia and in 1972 led them to Missouri.  They built their own home outside of Columbia, MO in 1973 and 1974.  She became an expert at finishing their new home.  Painting, wallpaper, and decorating, she did it all.
Petie was an incredible seamstress and her handmade clothing was amazing.  She could sew anything you could possibly want her to make from prom dresses, wedding dresses, adult clothing, children’s clothing, coats, purses and totes.  She could make anything.  Mary was also a quilter and enjoyed being a member of the Quilt Club in Broadus, MT.  Petie moved to Broadus in 2008 to be close to her daughter.
Petie was a beloved wife, mother, and friend.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Norval and Katherine Tutwiler, her husband Edward A. Gaskins, and her grandson Casey Stroehman.
Petie is survived by her loving daughter Karen and husband Tom; a granddaughter, Jennifer K. Galloway; great-grandsons Maddox and Liam Galloway; her sister, Phyllis Stalnaker; and a niece, Sherri Adamek.
Special thanks for all of your kindness and care giving to Mary Weimer and the staff at Holy Rosary Hospital.
Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, December 23, 2019 at 11am at the Bridgeport Cemetery. Online condolences, The Davis-Weaver Funeral Home is honored to serve the Gaskins Family during this time.
