William T. “Tom” Berwinkle, 70, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at his residence. He was born at Parkersburg on September 7, 1949, a son of the late Charles F. and Eva V. (Cochran) Berwinkle. William is survived by his wife of 48 years, JoAnn (Folio) Berwinkle, whom he married on August 28, 1971.

In addition to his wife William is survived by two daughters: Kelly Ann Berwinkle (Chris) of Clarksburg and Heidi Jo Pitzer (Mike) of Clarksburg, and was Pappy to his only special granddaughter, Morgan Quinn Pitzer. Also surviving is one brother, Charles F. “Charlie” Berwinkle (Molly) of Dover, OH; nieces and nephew: Crystal Spriggs (Rev. Phil) of OH, Marcy Van Hemel (Steven) of Charlotte, NC, and John Folio (Tina) of Charlotte, NC; and great nieces and nephews: Taylor Van Hemel, Jessica Spriggs, Daniel Spriggs, Bethany Spriggs, and Jacob Folio.

Tom, as he was known to family and friends, was a graduate of Notre Dame High School Class of 1969 and then attended Fairmont State College. He worked various jobs over the years including a guide at Prickett’s Fort State Park, Pratt & Whitney, and most recently at Marsh Lumber in Rosebud Plaza. Tom loved history and was a reenactor for many historical events including the Civil War. He especially loved muzzleloading. Tom participated in the reenactment of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, was the inspiration and founding member of the “Appalachian Rangers Gun Club,” and was a former member of the North-South Skirmish Association in Winchester, VA. Another favorite pastime to Tom was reminiscing of his child hood days at home in Raven Rock, WV.

Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV, on Friday, October 25, 2019 from 4 until 8pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 11am with Jim Metheny presiding. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
