Mary Caroline Butcher, 84, of Clarksburg, WV (Summit Park), passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. She was born at Monongalia County, WV on May 4, 1935, a daughter of the late James E. and Mabel (Rinehart) Holliday. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, John C. Butcher on May 24, 2000, they were united in marriage on June 26, 1953.
Mary is survived by her 11 children: John Butcher (Vicky) of Clarksburg, Regina Matheny of Clarksburg, Ray Butcher (Janet) of Summit Park, Randall Butcher (companion Roberta) of Lumberport, Beverly Murphy (Charles) of Clarksburg, Barbara Butcher of Clarksburg, Marvin Butcher of Clarksburg, Patrick Butcher (Crystal) of Summit Park, Mabel Jenkins of Clarksburg, Melissa Gifford (Tillman) of Wallace, and Karen Butcher (Robert Castillo) of Clarksburg; one sister, Doris Brown of Thornton; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and spouse, Mary was preceded in death by two daughters: Brenda Dale Butcher and Baby Butcher; and eight siblings: Waveline Anderson, Addie Rowan, Faye Bowman, Dorothy Rowan, Jack Holliday, Anderson Holliday, and infants Burton and Jasper.
Mary attended Bible Baptist Church, enjoyed sitting on her porch, gardening, and taking care of her animals. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and visiting with her sisters. Mary also enjoyed listening to country and gospel music.
Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV, on Friday, September 27, 2019 from 4 until 8pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 10am. Interment will follow at Boring Cemetery.
