Virginia A. Cross, 95, of Ravenswood, WV and formerly Clarksburg, WV, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 6, 2019 at Jackson General Hospital in Ripley, WV. She was born in Clarksburg on March 20, 1924, a daughter of the late Salvatore “Sam” Perri and Rosa (Loretta) Perri.

In addition to her parents Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Howard E. Cross on January 22, 2010; and three siblings: Frank Perri, Catharine Beech, and Angie Thorpe.
Virginia is survived by her two children: Gary Lynn Cross of Ravenswood and Sondra Kaye Ross of Ashburn, VA; one sister, Mary Gabriel of Clarksburg; six grandchildren: Camissa Tabor (Rob) of FL, Coby Cross (Becky) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Cara Cross of FL, Sara Cross of FL, Sharri Lynn Dean (Ed) of VA, and Robert Ross Jr. (JoLaine) of VA; and 10 great-grandchildren: Eddie Dean IV, Lauren Dean, Grace Dean, Robbie Ross III, Emmelina Cross, Clayton Cross, Alex Hartwell, James Cross, Matthew Tabor, and Alayna Tabor.
Virginia was a graduate of Victory High School Class of 1946. She worked 24 years with Hazel Atlas, Continental Cann, and Anchor Hocking until its closing. Virginia was a life-time member of St. James Catholic Church in North View and was the first baby to be baptized there. While living in Ravenswood she attended St. Matthew Catholic Church with her son Gary. She was a member of the Alter Rosary Society and did countless hours of community service over the years. Virginia enjoyed going out to eat, attending various programs and choir events in the community, reading, and watching EWTN. She was a very faithful and devout Catholic and loved praying daily and going to church.
Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV, on Monday, September 9, 2019 from 5 until 8pm. A Rosary service will begin at 7:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at 10am at St. James Catholic Church with Father Penn as Celebrant and Father Akila Rodrigo Concelebrant.
