Mary C. “Katie” Griffith, 83, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at the United Hospital Center. She was born in Clarksburg on December 26, 1935, a daughter of Hade and Helen (Bunnell) Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, William J.C. “Bill” Griffith on September 19, 2014.

Katie is survived by her three children: Billie Sue Griffith of Clarksburg, Tammy Sotirakis and husband Pete of Clarksburg, and Ronald “Ron” Griffith and wife Melanie of Bridgeport; three sisters: Linda Atkins and husband Curtis of Valley City, OH, Shirley Robey of Valley City, OH, and Carol Sue Nutter of Clarksburg; nine grandchildren: Leann McIntire and husband Josh, Bryan Swiger, Jeremy Zickefoose and wife Julie, Joshua Zickfoose and wife Jennifer, Ryan Sotirakis, Cara Rambosek and husband James, Luke Sotirakis, Bryce Griffith, and Mackenzie Griffith; as well as nine great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband Katie was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Cora L. Bruene.
Katie was Head Cook at Wilsonburg Grade School for 28 years and attended the Reynoldsville Baptist Church. Aside cooking for the children of Wilsonburg for many years, she also loved cooking for her family and friends. Katie also enjoyed canning, doing crafts, playing bingo, and listening to older country music. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her life and she loved spending time with all of them.
Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV, on Sunday, July 21, 2019 from 4 until 8pm. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, July 22, 2019 at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Jon Hayes presiding. Interment will follow at Marshville Baptist Church Cemetery.
