Velma “Penny” Linder, 95, of Bridgeport, WV, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at River Oaks in Clarksburg. She was born at Grafton on August 5, 1923, a daughter of the late M.L. Dever and Zoe Florence (Boyce) Dever. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years Odbert Delmas “O.D.” Linder on June 16, 2017.

Penny is survived by two children: John Linder and wife Lynne of Venice, FL and Bridgeport and Pamela Hanlan of Bridgeport; grandchildren: Gregory Linder and wife Barbara Linder, Amy Eakle and husband Mathew Eakle, Erin Hanlan and partner Paul Savidge, Mathew Hanlan, Benjamin Hanlan and wife Kristin Hanlan, and Kalin Hanlan; great-grandchildren: Brandon Hanlan and partner Kayla Kniceley, Liam Eakle, Aspen Linder, Madelynn Eakle, Nate Linder, Grant Linder, Eliza Hanlan, Paul Savidge Jr.; and great-great grandchildren: Briley Hanlan and Hudson Hanlan
In addition to her parents and husband Penny was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Ronald Hanlan.
Penny, as she was known to family and friends, loved genealogy and genealogical research. In fact, she was the co-author of six genealogy books over the years. She also loved to travel, getting dressed up in fancy gowns and going out dancing. Penny and her husband were members of the Bridgeport United Methodist Church.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, February 25, 2019 at the Bridgeport United Methodist Church from 10am until the funeral hour at 11am with Rev. Dr. Ken Ramsey presiding. Interment will follow at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown.
