Obituary

Mary B. Cabo, 93, of Summit Park, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2019 at Crestview Manor in Jane Lew. She was born at Elkins on September 22, 1925, a daughter of the late Robert T. and Elva (Boyer) Ice. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Joseph Cabo on November 24, 1980.

In addition to her parents and husband Mary was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Joshua Cassels.

Mary is survived by six children: Ronald Cabo and wife Donna of Mt. Clare, Judy Douglass and husband Gary of Valley City, OH, Linda Durant and husband Larry of Houston, TX, Michael Cabo of Clarksburg, Richard Cabo of Clarksburg, and Donna Stout and husband Robert of Lumberport; 14 grandchildren: Frank Cabo, Denise Perdue, Jeremy Douglass, Jennifer Douglass, Christina Gallagher, Tobbi Cassels, Pamela Durant-Tanley, Michael Cabo Jr., Rebecca Cabo, Zachery Cabo, Dylan Cabo, Jordon Cabo, LaShawna Tano, and Kayla Davis; as well as 14 great-grandchildren.

Mary graduated high school and attended nursing school for a while before settling to life as a homemaker, raising her children and helping with grandchildren as they came along. Although sometimes she practiced “tough love” she loved her family dearly and spending time with them. She loved baking, crochet, and sewing; often making things for her children and grandchildren. Mary attended the Family of God Church in Mt. Clare, and you could say if the “doors were open at the church, Mary would be there.” Mary was also a past member of the Summit Park Women’s Club.

Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV, on Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 9am until the funeral hour at 11am with Pastor Rick Owens presiding. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Hello Cabo Family: Your mom was such a sweet lady. I remember her and Joe well from the time we were all living in PK. She was always kind to me and my sister and brothers. And she could be funny and make us laugh. You were blessed to have her with you for so many years, I know she is in Heaven and at rest and peace with Jesus. God be with you and comfort you at this sad time. Sincerely, Carolyn Palmer Layman

Dear Family and Friends,

We have fond memories of Mary, her husband Joe and the Cabo Family. I remember when they first moved into the community and attended the Free Will Baptist Church. The Cabo’s had a picnic at their home for the whole church. Fun times and good memories. We are sorry for your lose and remember you in our thoughts and prayers.
