Edward Ray Wilson, 87, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the WV Veterans Nursing Facility in Clarksburg. He was born at Winston Salem, NC, on June 8, 1931, a son of the late John F. and Mary Ada (Slonaker) Wilson. Edward is survived by his wife, Cheryl Ann (Newbrough) Goff Wilson.

In addition to his wife Mr. Wilson is survived by one daughter, Jocelyn Renee Wilson of Clarksburg; two step-children: Gregory Dale Goff and wife Amy of Bridgeport, and Gretchen Julie Goff of Morgantown; one brother, John “Freddy” Wilson and wife Audrey of Morgantown; eight grandchildren: Heather Marie Daughtery, Erica Renee Davis and husband Chris, Michael Todd Wilson and wife Lisa, Edward Ryan Wilson, Keba Rachell Goff, Justin Edward Goff, Gavin Tucker Goff, and Ryan T. Goff; eight great-grandchildren: Chance Daughtery, Caleb Daughtery, Elijah Daughtery, Abigail Wilson, Miley Wilson, Eva R. Wilson, London Davis, and Brooke Davis; daughter-in-law, Andrea Wilson of Bridgeport; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by one son, Edward Randall Wilson; sister Phyllis Winifred Kennedy and her husband James “Jim” Kennedy; and sister-in-law, Mary Louise Stewart Wilson.
Edward was a graduate of Washington-Irving High School and then served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He then served as the Assistant Manager at the Wilson Baking Company. Upon his retirement he went on to work at Byard-Mercer Pharmacy in numerous capacities. He was also a member of the VFW Post 573 and Elks 482. Edward loved sports, especially the WVU Mountaineers and Pittsburgh Steelers, as well as watching boxing and golf on television. He loved sharing good meals with friends and family, but especially loved his hot Italian sausage. Edward was very much a family man and loved family gatherings.
Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV, on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 from 3 until 8pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 11am with Pastor Mark E. Smith presiding. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park where full military honors will be accorded.
