Margaret Hurley, age 97, of Bridgeport passed away on December 11, 2018 at United Hospital Center after a brief stay. She was born in Grafton on May 3, 1921 to Chester and Carrie Bragg Snellings. Margaret grew up in Clarksburg (Stealy) and graduated from Washington Irving High School. She married James “Jim” Hurley, also of Clarksburg, in 1939 with whom she had two children, Jimmy and Judy.

A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Margaret enjoyed sewing and crafts. She spent the last 53 years of her life a resident of Bridgeport and was a member of the Simpson Creek Baptist Church and the Lara D. Kirby Ladies Circle.
She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 75 years and her sisters: Evelyn Snellings, Virginia (Ben) Hippchen of Staley, Wanda Mitchell of Bridgeport, and Jean (Hots) Harrell of Rockville, MD.
Margaret is survived by her children, James (Sharon) Hurley of Roswell, GA and Judy (Richard) Williams of Morgantown; five grandchildren: Barry (Roseanne) Hurley, Karri Lynn Smith, Jerry Hurley, Laura (Steven Gallagher) Williams, Jennifer (Roy) VanHouten; seven great-grandchildren: Candace Hurley, Jimmy Hurley, Kara Bree Holtz, Devin Smith, Molly Hurley, Mickey Hurley, Amberlee Miller and two great-great grandchildren: Noah and Kinley. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to her personal caregivers of several years: Christina Britton, Sherry Riley and Vicki Goldsmith.
Graveside services will be held at Bridgeport Cemetery on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 1pm with Dr. Michael Hopkins presiding. Interment will follow.
