Leave Condolence for Alvarez, Josephine Mary View Condolence for Alvarez, Josephine Mary Print This Page Alvarez, Josephine Mary Date of Birth:.Jan. 19, 1917 Date of Death:.April 8, 2006 Josephine Mary Alvarez, age 89 of Spelter departed this life Saturday, April 8, 2006 following a brief illness. She was born Jan. 19, 1917 in Wyatt, the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria Alvarez. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother,Manuel Alvarez, Jr.. She is survived by one sister, Mildred Alvarez of Spelter, WV and a brother, Dr. Joseph Alvarez, Oakland, MD and many nieces and nephews. While Josephine had no children, she was a second mother to all her nieces and nephews. Josephine was a graduate of Victory High School. She was self employed and most remembered for her smoked Spanish sausage. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Shinnston and the local Spanish Club. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Shinnston with the Rev. Father Karl Wohinc as celebrant. One hour prior to mass the body will lie in state at the church. Interment will be in the Bridgeport Cemetery.
