James P. Barnes, age 52, 181 Sherwood Road, Bridgeport, WV died at 8:45 A.M. Tuesday, January 14, 2003 in United Hospital Center. Mr. Barnes was a well known highly respected Central West Virginia businessman. He was manager/operator of Mountain State Maytag Home Appliance Center in Bridgeport. James was born in Harrison County, WV November 6, 1950 a son of Josephine Barberio Barnes, East View and the late Robert M. Barnes. In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Sherry P. Barthalow Barnes whom he married April 27, 1974; one daughter, Amanda Jo Barnes, Bridgeport, one son and daughter-in-law, James P. and Robyn A. Barnes Jr., Bridgeport, four brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert M. and Jone Barnes Jr., St. Albans, WV, John J. and Delores Barnes, E. View, Sam J. and Cathy Barnes, E. View and Randy and Bets Barnes, Nixon Plaza, Clarksburg, two sisters, Mrs. Dave (Judy J. “Mitzi”) Andrew, Bridgeport, WV and Mrs. Rose Matheny, E. View and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Barnes and a brother-in-law, John Matheny. Mr. Barnes was graduate of Roosevelt-Wilson High School and he had attended Fairmont State College and graduated from West Virginia Business College. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Bridgeport and he had been active in Nutter Fort PTA and had coached Jerry West Ball for several years. He had served on the Quiet Dell Public Service District Board. Friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 East Main Street, Clarksburg from 7-9 P.M. Wednesday and from NOON - 9 p.m. Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, January 17, 2003 at 10:00 A.M. in All Saints Catholic Church with the Reverend Father Harry Cramer as celebrant. Interment will be in Bridgeport Cemetery. A vigil service will be conducted in the funeral home Thursday evening at 7:30 P.M. Davis-Weaver Service.
