Mr. John Baptista “Johnny B.” Angotti, Sr., age 85, of 111 Ryan Road, Clarksburg, WV died at 11:40 P.M. Friday, October 15, 2004 in the Transitional Care Unit of the United Hospital Center in Clarksburg following a three year battle with cancer. He was born in Clarksburg, WV on July 15, 1919 a son of the late Frank and Domenica Paladino Angotti.
Surviving are, his wife, Mary Ann Basile Angotti, whom he married November 26, 1955, four children and their spouses; sons, Robert Anthony Angotti, Sr., Clarksburg, WV and John B. Angotti II and wife, Tracy, Memphis, TN, daughters, Mary Elizabeth Angotti-Altieri and husband, Tony, Elkins, WV and Mary Ann Smith and husband, Kevin, Goose Creek, SC, and a foster child, Roberto Rodriguez, Shelton, CT, nine grandchildren, David, Kimrey, Meghan, and Courtney Smith, all of Goose Creek, SC, Robert Angotti, Jr., Ventnor City, NJ, Dominica Angotti and John B. Angotti III, both of Memphis, TN, John D. “Jake” Hare IV and Catherine Marie “Catie” Hare, both of Elkins, WV six nephews, Peter, John, and Anthony Secret, Dr. Frank Angotti, Dr. Michael Angotti, and Dr. John D. Angotti and a niece, Mary Constance “Cissy” Secret. Mr. Angotti was also preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Angotti Secret and Flora Angotti and a brother, Francis J. “Buddy” Angotti. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
John was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where he served as a minister of Communion. He was a member of the Clarksburg Knights of Columbus Robert L. Petitto Lodge # 872 , the William Marconi Lodge # 1140 Sons of Italy, and was a life member of the B. P. O. Elks # 482 of Clarksburg. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School and attended Salem College. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was employed as a machinist by Hart Brothers, Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing (3M), Wilson Ford Company, Rolland Glass Company, Mountain State Fabricating and La Rosa Fuel. He also owned and operated the Chestnut Hills Market.
Friends may call at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 East Main Street, Clarksburg from 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. on Sunday and 2:00 - 9:00 P.M. on Monday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Cesidio J. Federico, the Rev. Father Bruce Cinquegrani, and the Rev. Father Hilarion V. Cann as Celebrants. A Biblical Prayer Service will be held at the funeral home at 7:00 P.M. on Monday evening.
