Jack Richard Rucker, 81, of Bridgeport, WV and formerly of Cleveland, OH, died on Friday, June 25, 2010 at the Louis A. Johnson Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Evertsville, WV on April 23, 1929, the son of the late Henry and Hazel Wilson Rucker. He is survived by a loving wife, Gertrude “Trudy”(Leischner)Rucker, whom he married on Oct. 24, 1970. Mr. Rucker is survived by five daughters Suzanne Dominick and husband Joseph of Mentor, OH, Karen Shipley and husband Robert of Willoughby Hills, OH, Deborah Hopkins and husband Ronald of Kirtland, OH, Denise Taddeo of Cleveland, OH, Janet LaBant and husband John of Mentor, OH, and three sons, David Rucker of Alabama, Jack Rucker of Eastlake, OH, and Karl Rollner and wife Patricia of Simi Valley, CA ; eight grandchildren, Jodi Dominick, Michael Dominick and wife Anysia, Steven Dominick and Linnea Shelden, Sean Hopkins and Morgan Hopkins, Alexandria Rucker and Carleen Rucker; and two great grandchildren, Guy Dominick and Adriana Skye Rucker. He is also survived by a sister, Betty Kester of Clarksburg, WV. Also surviving are several nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Nolan Rucker and sister, Mary Lou Rucker. He was a member of the Concord Methodist Church in Belington, WV. Jack was a graduate of Victory High School. He served his country in the U. S. Air Force from 1950 to 1953. Jack was manager of Image Systems in Cleveland, OH before being transferred to Culver City, CA. He later retired in 1991 from Sweeney Engineering Corp., Gardena, CA. Jack was past president of The Exchange Club. He also was a member of the Biscuit World Guys Coffee Club where they gathered to discuss the problems of the world.
Friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 East Main St., Clarksburg from 2-6p.m. Sunday. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 28, 2010 at the Concord Methodist Church Cemetery at Belington, WV with Rev. Elizabeth Baker presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Jack to the charity of your choice. |
