Mark Frederic Spelsberg, age 56, of 249 Carr Avenue, Clarksburg, WV, passed
away at 4:50 P. M. Friday, June 18, 2010 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in
Morgantown, WV. He was born in Clarksburg, WV, June 2, 1954 a son of the
late William Emil “Bill” Spelsberg and Mary “Dusty” Whitacre Spelsberg of
Carr Avenue, Clarksburg.

In addition to his mother, Mark is survived by: three brothers & two sisters-in-law,
William Eric & Julia Spelsberg, Weston, WV, John David Spelsberg, Gladstone, NJ,
& Matthew Whitacre & Beth Spesberg, Jakarta, Indonesia, two sisters & a brother-
in-law, Mary Christina Parsons, Clarksburg, WV & Melissa Spelsberg Loder &
husband, Art, Clarksburg, WV, an aunt, Josephine Whitacre Michelson & husband,
Armand Matthew Michelson, Madison, OH, an uncle, Frederic A. Whitacre,
Zanesville, OH and several cousins.

In addition to his father, Mark was also preceded in death by: an aunt, Gertrude
“Betty” Morgan & her husband, Ray Morgan & an uncle, David E. Spelsberg.

Mr. Spelsberg grew up in St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and was a man of great
faith. He was a graduate of Washington Irving High School - Class of 1972.
He attended Beckley College, WVU and graduated from Fairmont State College.
He was a musician, who had taught himself to play the bass guitar & harmonica,
which he used to perform in a local country band. He also loved doing outside
activities, especially fishing. He had been employed as a disability examiner/ social
worker for the state of West Virginia.

Friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 East Main Street,
Clarksburg from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, where a
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A. M.
Family & friends will be received at a reception at the family residence,
249 Carr Avenue, following the Memorial Service. Private inurnment services
will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be made to: The
Humane Society of Harrison County, Rt. 2, Box 932, Shinnston, WV 26431 or to
The Clarksburg Mission, 312 N. 4th Street, Clarksburg, WV 26301.
