Obituary for Freda Kovalan

Freda Ann Kovalan, 86, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the Meadowview Manor in Bridgeport. She was born at Sistersville, WV on September 6, 1931, a daughter of the late Jules and Jennie (Andre’) Charles. Ms. Kovalan was preceded in death by her husband Edward D. Kovalan on December 16, 1992.

In addition to her parents and husband Freda was preceded in death by one brother, James Charles, and four sisters: Elizabeth Brady, Virginia DeGardeyn, Marguerite Rexroad, and Mary Whitehead.

Freda is survived by three nephews and one niece: Billy Brady of Clarksburg, Jerry Rexroad of Clarksburg, Jennie Carpenter and husband Gary of Clarksburg, and Wayne Whitehead and wife Marjorie of Mansfield, OH. Also surviving are numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Freda was a graduate of Victory High School Class of 1949 and worked at Westinghouse as a typist and clerical worker for many years. She was a member of Holy Rosary and then Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church where she was very active when able. Freda had also been a member of the Belgium Heritage Club as well as the Chestnut Hills Garden Club. She loved traveling, gardening, sewing, and attending WVU Football games with her husband and friends.

Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV, on Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 4 until 8pm, a Prayer Vigil will conclude the visitation beginning at 7:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 10am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Stonewood. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
