Obituary for Paul Marshall

Paul Woodfun Marshall, 94, of Clarksburg, WV (Goff Plaza), planted his last bean under the rock on Thursday, June 14, 2018. Anyone who knew uncle Paul admired him for his sense of humor. He was born on Lambert’s Run on March 21, 1924, a son of the late George W. and Blanche Shreve Marshall. Paul was preceded in death by the love of his life, Sarah “Punkie” Highland Marshall on October 23, 2000. They were united in marriage on April 29, 1949, and happily married for 51 years.

Paul is survived by many nieces and nephews. Those who were near and dear to his heart were Kimbo and the girls Puddin, Half Pint, and Dovie. Along with Buttons, Coal Lump, Peanut, and the gang.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his brothers: Charles “Sammy” and Kenny “Petey” Marshall and his sisters: Dorothy “Sis” Marshall Kellison and Mary “Red” Marshall Sterling.

Paul was a World War II Veteran, serving in the United States Navy. He was a retired Supervisor with Logan Corporation. Paul was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Evangelical Congregational Oakmound Church. He enjoyed sitting outside with his beloved house mate “Louie the ant” and talking with his neighbors. He always enjoyed sharing conversation and dinner every evening with his good friend Vern at Parkette. In his last two years, Paul was blessed to have some of the most kind and loving care-givers that became like family to him: Violet, Tina, Nora, Barbara, Holly, Mary Beth, Belynda, Suzanne, Pam, Tiera, and Kayla. His Hospice nurse Karen, held a special place in his heart for several years. Uncle Paul’s humor and light-hearted spirit will be missed by all who ever had the pleasure of knowing him. Mark Twain said, “Humor is mankind’s greatest blessing.” Uncle Paul’s humor was truly a blessing.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the American Heart Association.

Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV, on Monday, June 18, 2018 from 4 until 8pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 10am with Pastors Jerome Lewis and Jim Burrough presiding. Interment will follow at the Bridgeport Cemetery. Online condolences, The Davis-Weaver Funeral Home is honored to serve the Marshall Family during this time.
