William "Bill" Merrill
William H. “Bill” Merrill, 66, of Mt. Clare, WV, passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 24, 2018. He was born in Clarksburg, WV, on August 22, 1951, a son of the late Boyd William Merrill, and was reared by his late aunt Pauline Merrill Goodwin. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte R. “Becky” Merrill on June 16, 2010.
In addition to his wife Bill was preceded in death by two sisters: Brenda Drummond and Linda Heater.
Mr. Merrill is survived by three sons: William “Billy” Merrill and wife Mary, Boyd Merrill and companion Carrie Shingleton, and Brian Merrill and wife Melissa all of Mt. Clare; a brother, Bobby John Merrill and wife Barb of IN; a sister, Susie Rogers and husband Jim of OK; seven grandchildren: Meranda Merrill, Lucas Merrill, Joshua Merrill, Bryan Howell, Bayleigh Merrill, Courtney Moore, and Megan Moore; one great-granddaughter, Madelynn Moore; his extended family sisters and brothers-in-law: Stella Saas and husband Charles of Clarksburg, Lillian “Bonnie” Booth of Cleveland, Gary Greynolds and wife Debbie of Mt. Clare, and Phillip Greynolds and wife Zelma of Cleveland. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
William was a graduate of Roosevelt-Wilson High School Class of 1970 along with his wife, and they were members of the Quiet Dell United Methodist Church. He worked at Union Carbide for many years, and was then a carpenter by trade. Bill loved hunting, fishing, and spending time at the family cabin. He also enjoyed riding atv’s and was known for keeping an exceptionally clean truck. Bill’s favorite thing though was spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life for Bill will be held at Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV, on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 10am until 1pm at which time a memorial service will be held with Rev. George Bramble presiding. Private inurnment will take place at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
