William "Bill" Hunter
William Russell “Bill” Hunter, 64, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2018. He was born in Niles, OH, on January 1, 1954, a son of the late William Lester and Pauline Ann (Rosenberger) Hunter. Bill is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Joyce I. (Dolan) Hunter, whom he married on May 7, 1978.
In addition to his wife Bill is survived by one sister, JoAnn Baugh of Niles, OH; uncle, Ray Rosenberger of Niles; close cousins: Pat and Linda Cassidy of Niles, and Cheryl Pallante of Austintown, OH; brothers and sisters in law: Gary and Kay Dolan of Pooler, GA, Maureen and Wayne Reinhart of Clarksburg, Carolyn and Tom Pekar of Barboursville, WV, Gloria and Dwight Davis of Laurel Park, Connie Harnett and Danny Miller of Clarksburg, and Donna Dolan of Clarksburg; 14 nieces and nephews: Nichole Dolan (fiancé Jeff Hawkins), Kerri Coe (Robbie), Jonathon Dolan (Gynger), Shawn Dolan (Michelle), Michael Reinhart (Amy), Michelle Pochick (Scott), Timothy Pekar, Tonya Pekar-Second, Alicia Pekar, Meghan Fincham (Chad) who was very special to him, Micky Davis (Staci), Justin Harnett (Erin), Hayden Martin, and Grayson Martin; 19 great-nieces and nephews: John Caleb Dolan, Zackary Coe, Ezra Dolan, Evan Dolan, Sophia Dolan, Olivia Dolan, Ansley Dolan, Joshua Reinhart, Joseph Reinhart, Caden Pochick, Jaxon Pochick, Desiree Pekar, Dakota Pekar, Gavin Second, Emzie Fincham, Jozee Fincham, Madison Harnett, Austin Harnett, Lillian Harnett, and Baby boy Davis on the way.
In addition to his parents William was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Marie Hunter; mother and fathers in law: Colleen M. Collins Dolan Emerson, John J. Dolan Sr., and Ernest E. “Gene” Emerson; a great-niece, Hannah Dolan; and a special aunt and uncle, Mildred “Duck” and Joe Incarnato.
Bill was a proud 1972 graduate of Niles-McKinnley High School, and never missed a class reunion. He obtained his CDL and worked several over the road trucking jobs, but most recently worked as a school bus driver for Harrison County. He took great pride and enjoyed driving school bus. Bill was an avid classic car fan especially Ford Mustangs and owned several over the years as well as motorcycles. While living in Florida he also enjoyed boating with his wife. Also while living in Florida he enjoyed playing Santa Clause for many children there. Bill also enjoyed collecting guns, as well as being an avid sportsman. Bill and Joyce were the proud owner of 3 Star Pizza where Bill made a delectable potato pizza that he continued to make at family functions, and his homemade cheesecake was exceptional! He would spend many hours at his wife’s family farm in Upshur County in pursuit of the “great buck.” Bill and Joyce enjoyed camping too, especially at Pegasus Campground in Elkins, Site #10. He was also affectionately known to his family and friends as “The Big Dog.” Lastly, Bill loved his cocker spaniel “Missy” as well as their many other animals over the years.
Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV, on Sunday, May 6, 2018 from 3 until 6pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 10am with Pastor Tim Sandy presiding. Cremation services will follow.
