Harold Richard Davis, 97, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Fairmont Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fairmont, WV. He was born in Sistersville, WV, on December 6, 1920, a son of the late Albert Wesley and Velma Lucille (Adams) Davis. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Ruth Mary (Ashenhart) Davis on November 7, 2006.
In addition to his parents and wife Mr. Davis was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur Lincoln Davis, and a son-in-law, John Walsh.
Harold is survived by one daughter, Jean Elaine Walsh of Cincinnati, OH; one son, John Robert Davis and wife Cathy of Fairmont, WV; two grandchildren: Jason Robert Davis and wife Jessica Manvell of Tucson, AZ; and Robin Marie Czarnecki and husband Phil of Cincinnati, OH; and three great-grandchildren: Logan Czarnecki and Evan Czarnecki both of Cincinnati, and Marian Rose Davis of Tucson, AZ.
Harold served his country honorably in the United States Army, during WWII in the 80th Division Reconnaissance Troop and was awarded the Bronze Star. He retired after 43 years of service with Dominion Gas as a buyer and purchasing agent for natural gas. Mr. Davis was a long-time member of the Duff Street United Methodist Church and attended regularly when he was able. Harold was a very inspirational and independent person to all that knew him, especially after becoming an amputee later in life. He was a very avid golfer as well as a Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. He had a great love for his family and spending time with them.
Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV, on Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 10am until the funeral hour at 12 Noon with Pastor Mark Smith presiding. Entombment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens where full military honors will be accorded.
