James A. Badgett, 70, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Clarksburg on February 23, 1947, a son of the late Carl E. and Leona D. (Sowdowski) Badgett. Mr. Badgett is survived by his wife Linda Sue (Frame) Badgett.

In addition to his wife James is survived by one daughter Jalah Ann Tanner and companion Craig Alkire of Morgantown; two step-daughters: Cathy Bailey and husband Michael of Bridgeport, and Carolyn “Susie” Hyre and companion Gary Clevenger of Wallace; seven grandchildren: Avery Tanner, Justin Bailey, Katherine “Katie” Bailey, Sarah Bailey, Nicole Higgins (Paul), Roy Hyre, John Hyre (Savannah); and three great-grandchildren: Hunter Higgins, Greyson Higgins, and Bentleigh Hyre. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents James was preceded in death by two brothers: Carl “Sonny” Badgett Jr. and David Badgett.

James was a graduate of Notre Dame and then served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he obtained rank of Sergeant. James was an avid truck driver for over 40 years, traveling all over the country until retirement. He loved tinkering with lawn mowers, weed eaters, and anything with a small engine. James always loved talking with people; he never met a stranger always finding something to talk about and by the time they parted ways he knew them. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, spending time with family and especially his grandchildren. James was a life member of the VFW Post 573, Eagles 2353, and the American Legion. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, Harley Davidsons and Indians.

Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV Wednesday, February 7, 2018 from 4 until 8pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 10:30am with Rev. Kenny Kendall presiding. Interment will follow at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown where full military honors will be accorded.
