Michael Roman, 86, of Clarksburg, WV (East View), passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the WV Veteran’s Nursing Facility in Clarksburg. He was born on August 10, 1931 a son of the late Charles and Susie Roman.
Michael is survived by two children: Mark Roman and wife Kelly of Columbus, OH, and Kimberly Swiger and husband Jeff of Philippi; four grandchildren: Jamie Swiger, Malori Roman, Michele Roman, and Zack Seders; two great-grandchildren: Alx and Milo; two sisters: Margaret Saunders of Nutter Fort and Sue West of Petersburg; and his former wife Esther Kelley of Bridgeport. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Michael was preceded in death by four siblings: Betty Jacobs, Charles Roman, Mary Benda, and Anna Libicer.
Michael was a graduate of Roosevelt Wilson High School and then served his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1950-1954, and he later retired from Anchor Hocking Glass Factory. Michael was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. He loved working in his garden and taking care of his lawn. Michael also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and watching the Mountaineers.
Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 4 until 8pm, with a Vigil Service beginning at 7:30 to conclude the visitation. Catholic Funeral Rites will be celebrated at the funeral home on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11am with Father Kent Durig presiding. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
