Obituary for Nina Seckman
Nina B. Seckman, 93, of Salem, WV, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. She was born at Salem Fork on April 17, 1924, a daughter of the late LeRoy and Blanche (Hayes) Hurst. Mrs. Seckman was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Charles E. “Charlie” Seckman on July 28, 2003.
Surviving are five children: David L. Seckman and wife Sandra of Clarksburg, Steven C. Seckman and wife Gail of Greenville, SC, Mark A. Seckman and wife Brenda of Salem, Carla B. Johnson and husband Steve of Salem, and Carol A. Carpenter and husband Jeff of Clarksburg; 15 grandchildren: Jerry Winterhalter and wife Andrea, Stacie Palmer and husband Brandon, Jennifer Arrington, Craig Seckman and wife Shermaine, Mikel Seckman and wife Iva, Lyndsey Medina and husband James, Justin Johnson and wife Charity, Tara Molina and husband Alex, Charlee Beth Johnson, Josh Carpenter and wife Miranda, Jeremy Carpenter, Rob Gawthrop, Josh Gawthrop and wife Stacie, Shawn Gawthrop, Danny Gawthrop and wife Amber; and 22 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Nina was preceded in death by two brothers: LeRoy H. Hurst and Theodore S. Hurst.
Nina was a graduate of Bristol High School Class of 1941, attended the West Virginia Business College, was a graduate of Engineering Aide Class of 1945 through the Army Air Force Wright Field base, and attended the WV Wesleyan College. She was a member of the Ten Mile Church of Christ where she had attended since she was only three months old. Nina was a member of the Harrison County CEOS for 48 years, and a member of the Marshville Satellite Senior Citizens where she had served as secretary and treasurer for 25 years. Nina worked as a clerical and nursing assistant with United Hospital Center.
Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV, on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 10am until the funeral hour at 1pm with Mark Wise presiding.
