Obituary for James "Jim" Collins Jr.
James Raymond Collins, Jr., 78, of Clarksburg, WV (Broad Oaks), passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the Meadowview Manor in Bridgeport. He was born in Clarksburg on May 4, 1939, a son of the late James R. Collins Sr. and Vena (Morris) Collins. James was preceded in death by his wife Rachel Steele Collins in 1997.
In addition to his parents and wife, James was preceded in death by one brother Steve Collins.
Mr. Collins is survived by one daughter Rebecca C. Biser and husband Josh of Frostburg, MD; three sisters-in-law: Phyllis Steele of Bridgeport, Janet Bond of GA, and Joanne Greene of MI; niece Debbie Childers of GA, nephew Steve Longwell of Okinawa, and nephew Jeff White of OH. Also surviving are several cousins.
Jim, as he was known to many, was a graduate of Washington-Irving High School and then served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He retired after many years with Lockheed Martin, as a tooling inspector. Jim was a very avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast, a 32nd Mason, and greatly enjoyed golfing. James liked working with his hands and enjoyed drawing, various metal art, and muzzle loading to name a few.
Jim’s wishes for cremation will be honored. A Memorial Gathering is being planned for the spring for family and friends to join in celebrating his life.
