Obituary for Mona Linn
Mona Marie (Wetzel) Quickle Linn, 105, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. She was born at Elk Creek, WV on October 14, 1912, a daughter of the late Weeden and Ava (Fox) Wetzel. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
In addition to her parents and siblings, Marie as she was known to many, was preceded in death by her first husband Okey Columbus Quickle and her second husband George Paul Linn; a daughter, Mary Ann Quickle; one granddaughter, Jaimie Quickle; two grandsons: Christopher and Tommy Douglas Quickle; and one great-grandson, Nathaniel Quickle.
Marie is survived by four sons: David Lee Quickle and wife Susan of Berryville, VA, Harry William Quickle and companion Elizabeth of Clarksburg; Burrell Jene Quickle and wife Helen of Clarksburg, and Dale Quickle of Monrovia, MD. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and their families.
Marie was raised in the Lost Creek area, and was Methodist by faith. She played piano and organ for Christian Endevor at Lost Creek Methodist Church. In her early high school years, she was an avid girls’ basketball player as well as ran track. She completed through the 11 grade, but was unable to graduate because she was forced to stay home to care for her ailing mother.
Marie was a homemaker mainly, but worked as a housekeeper and babysitter for many prominent residents in the Clarksburg area. She loved visiting and enjoying the company of her dear friends at the Riverbend Apartment Complex where she lived for over 25 years. Her favorite past time after she celebrated her 100th birthday was going to eat at Ryan’s and also enjoying the food service folks at Sam’s Club. The employees at Sam’s even gave her a 100th birthday party and then done so each year on October 14. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV, on Monday, December 11, 2017 from 4 until 8pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 11am with Pastor Johnmark Camenga presiding. Interment will follow at the Lost Creek Seventh Day Baptist Cemetery.
